Problems in the design stage of the round lcd display:

1.The TFT design of round display is more difficult than that of square display.

The opening and closing of each row of pixels in TFT LCD is controlled by the GATE line. Because of the shape of the round display, the corresponding TFT line is also round. The number of pixels in each row is inconsistent, which will lead to differences in the voltage and current distributed in each row, Results in inconsistent display effects. The TFT line of the circular display requires loading compensation for each line to ensure consistent screen display.

2.Complex adhesive packaging process and low efficiency of round screen:

TFT LCD display requires the use of sealant to adhesive the TFT substrate and the color filter substrate, and then fill the liquid crystal in the middle. Because the shape of the circular display requires the sealant to be coated into a circle, because the glue coating equipment uses a servo motor to control the movement of the glue nozzle, the speed of linear movement is much faster than that of the curve, so the production efficiency of the circular display is also low.

3.Low utilization rate of round lcd display:

Each round display is cut from the larger display substrate, and there is more free space between the round display and the round display, while traditional square TFT LCDS fit well together, so the use of the round display is lower.

Difficulties in the production and manufacturing process of round lcd display:

1.The round lcd display is more difficult to cut and the yield is low

Traditional square displays cut from large display substrate, only need to cut along the straight line, cutting efficiency is very high, and yield is good. The circular lcd display needs to be cut along the display arc, can not use the traditional cutting equipment, can only use CNC equipment and laser cutting machine, each time can only cut a circular display, so the efficiency is very low, and in the process of yield is much lower than square display.

 

2.It is difficult to process the materials needed for the production of round lcd display

The material required for circular display is also different from that for square display, the polarizer is separated by cutting, because the edge of the polarizer after cutting will have burrs and residues, need to use edge grinding machine to remove these residues, the traditional square polarizer only needs to grind four edges, and the circular polarizer needs a special edge grinding machine to complete, and low efficiency.

3.The production process of circular display requires high precision of equipment

For the production process, the process of attaching the polarizer to the circular display is also difficult, because in the process of attaching can only use the camera positioning machine attached, otherwise it will be biased. The assembly process of backlight is also similar to the attachment of polarizer, requiring high-precision equipment to ensure the alignment accuracy.
